Robert Talbot Kelly (1861-1934) was an English orientalist landscape and genre painter, author and illustrator. Talbot-Kelly traveled to Egypt several times and, profoundly inspired by the places he saw, eventually decided to settle there. Leaving his employment, Talbot-Kelly traveled by boat to North Africa and acquired a studio in Cairo where he lived and became fluent in Arabic. Peeps at Many Lands illustrates and recounts his experience of the scenes and the people he encountered throughout the country.
